General Information

 EVENTS:
 Men's Singles
 Open (10), A (28), B (32), C (32), D (8)
 Men's Doubles
 Open (5), A (14), B (16), C (16), D (4)

The total draw will be limited to 110 entries

DRAW: For the events listed above, the number in parenthesis indicates the maximum draw per event.   If some   draws are not filled, others may be increased.  An event with less than eight (8) entries may be round robin format. Entrants in the division being consolidated will be given the choice of a refund of their entry fee, or participation in another division.  No refunds will be given after the draws are made on January 25, 2002.   Due to the complexity of scheduling, you must enter the same division in all events unless the Directors approve a requested level change.

WAIT LIST: A wait list will be maintained if there are more entries than can be accommodated in the draw.  Entrants placed on a wait list will be notified.  If entrants withdraw from the tournament prior to the draw being made, players on the wait list will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, based on Division ranking.

FACILITIES: The Turtle Bay Resort (Oahu) will be used for all matches.  An alternate site may be used as determined by the tournament directors if necessary to complete all matches due to unforeseen delays.

SEEDING: The published GLTA rankings as released by the GLTA 45 days prior to the tournament will determine seeding.

RULES: USTA rules and Code of Ethics will apply.  The Tournament Directors will interpret and enforce all rules as needed and their ruling will be final.

SCORING:  All matches will be best two out of three sets (unless announced prior to start of play).  The Tournament Directors have the authority to invoke the use of pro sets, if weather delays require such, in order to complete the tournament.  The Directors also reserve the right to adjust scoring of events if extenuating circumstances threaten completion of the tournament.

DEFAULT: Players must report to the tournament desk 15 minutes prior to a scheduled match regardless of court availability.  The USTA point penalty system will be enforced.

WARM-UP: A five-minute warm-up will be strictly enforced on the courts used for competition.

SCHEDULING:  Match times will be posted at the Draw Party on Thursday evening, February 14, at the Turtle Bay tennis courts.  If you have Internet access, the entire draw will be posted at www.tennisinformation.com (TMS).  Tournament play will commence on Friday, February 15 at 7 a.m.  Final round matches will be played on Sunday, February 17.  Tournament officials will make every effort to notify participants of any changes in scheduled match times.   However, it is the player’s responsibility to verify all match times. Should scheduled matches end early, the next match's starting time may be advanced.  Players will be notified by tournament officials.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by Friday, January 18, 2002.  No telephone or fax entries will be accepted.  Doubles teams will not be entered into the draw until completed applications and entry fees are received from both players.

CONFIRMATION:  Entry confirmation will be by e-mail to all participants (or by mail if no e-mail is available) whose entries are received by the deadline. Late entries will be confirmed by e-mail or phone.

CONSOLATION DRAW: (TIME, COURT AVAILABILITY, AND WEATHER PERMITTING) Participants who do not win their first round singles match may compete in the consolation draw. Players receiving a bye or default in the first round and not winning in the second round may enter the consolation bracket in the same manner.  Consolation format will be an eight game (8), no-ad pro set, 9 point tie breaker, except the finals which will be the best 2 out of 3 sets.   Consolation matches will be subject to Tournament Director’s discretion.

RAIN OUT: In the event of a rain out after the draw has been completed, and/or during any phase of the tournament, there will be NO refunds.   Participants are to call the Tournament Directors for further information concerning tournament play.  The Awards Banquet will be held as scheduled.

NSF CHECKS: Any returned checks will be considered non-payment, and any charges incurred will be the responsibility of the player.  A player’s position in the draw will not be held for them, but the player may be re-entered if space is available when correct and full payment is received.

DIVISION GUIDELINES AND GLTA CLASSIFICATION: The following guidelines established by the GLTA should be used when entering division of play on your Entry Form:
